Why does everybody hate Terra like damn Xehanort laid that emotional manipulation on thick

Terra failed to achieve his life’s dream, defeated by his friend, immediately scolded by his father figure, and here comes Xehanort to happily tell him he did nothing wrong like?? I’d jump on any source of validation at that point, I don’t blame him.
